Our Story

ImpactSG was born in 2022

ImpactSG is an independent ground-up initiative to foster a community of purposeful givers in Singapore and Asia. We add value to Singapore’s charity and philanthropy ecosystem by being a “gateway to giving” in Singapore and Asia, for individuals who are new to giving or newcomers to Singapore and our giving ecosystem. We adopt a “3P” model to: nurture a community of engaged Pledgers; forge synergistic Partnerships with other charities and corporates; and implement impactful Programmes with clearly defined outcomes for specific groups of beneficiaries. We practise a “4T” approach to giving (time, talent, ties, treasure) and encourage our Pledgers to go beyond financial donations to volunteer their time, share their expertise, or tap on their professional networks to help others.

From Grassroots Beginnings  to Becoming
Singapore’s Gateway to Giving

June 2022
Amid ForwardSG conversations, founders Daniel, Edmund and Ker Fong saw the surge in family offices entering Singapore as an opportunity to create more impact. Together with other like-minded friends, they discussed the need for purposeful giving and how best to  channel this wealth meaningfully into the community. The next 6 months saw the budding group of changemakers forging a new path through in-depth research and collaborative stakeholder engagement.
April 2023
A bold vision was born.Then-Senior Minister of State Chee Hong Tat initiated ImpactSG’s call to action at a kick-off event which brought together 200+ family offices, firms and charities. The ImpactSG Pledge was launched to rally individuals to A-C-T (Affirm social responsibility to uplift the disadvantaged, Come together as a community of pledgers, Take action and contribute to causes). Over 100 individuals joined the Pledge, marking the birth of ImpactSG.
May to Dec 2023

Volunteer-Driven Growth

The 3 co-founders rallied a team of 20 volunteers who curated events, guided pledgers, and fostered relationships with partners across Singapore’s philanthropic ecosystem.

Experiential Learning Journeys

Immersive visits to SGEnable, National Cancer Centre, and Beyond Social Services provided pledgers with firsthand insights into community challenges, deepening commitment to impactful action.

Nurturing Partnerships

Commenced engagements with a range of potential partners including the Philanthropy Asia Alliance , Community Chest, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre and many others (> 25 by Dec 2023) allowed ImpactSG to be positioned as a trusted bridge for giving.

Feb 2024
Witnessing tremendous  support & momentum, the 3 co-founders were galvanised to honour the strong commitment shown by  pledgers and partners alike. They got to work on evolving ImpactSG’s vision, one that centres on growing a strong pledger community while experimenting on new program concepts with partners, moving their mission forward with renewed purpose. It was decided that the ground-up initiative would need to evolve to be an independent non-profit, anchored and originated in Singapore but with regional ambitions.
Mar - July 2024
Through both local and overseas learning journeys, as well as exclusive leadership dialogues with visionaries like Jessica Tan, Ravi Menon, John Studzinski and Dominic Barton, ImpactSG broaden its reach by engaging >100 individuals, attracting more like-hearted individuals to the ImpactSG community, and by collaborating with international networks such as ThinkSuite, piloting a speaker series for schools. Concurrently, organisational growth gained momentum with the recruitment of board members, the establishment of a sustainable funding framework, and Edmund becoming the inaugural team member, laying the foundation for long-term stability and impact.
Aug  - Oct 2024
ImpactSG strengthened its progress  by expanding its team while continuing to run a  series of key events such as breakfast dialogues with José Manuel Barroso, GAVI Board Chair, and The Honorary Scott Morrison, learning journeys (e.g. to places such as MiRXES, National Cancer Centre Singapore & Halogen)  with the Asian Family Legacy Foundation, WEF’s Young Global Leaders and NUHS as well as fireside chats with Simu Liu, in collaboration Goldhouse, and Prof Chong Yap Seng, Dean of NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
